Ten years ago, my dad James was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. If you know someone with Parkinson's, you know how it changes everything — not just for them, but for the whole family. My dad has always been my biggest supporter. He's the reason I fell in love with hockey, the reason I kept pushing through every challenge to get here. Since his diagnosis, he's adopted a phrase that's become our family mantra: Shake On — a reminder to keep moving forward, no matter what.
This season, I wanted to find a way to use my platform as a professional hockey player for something bigger than the game. So I'm launching Shake On. I play defense for the New York Sirens in the PWHL, and I wear number 20. This season, I'm personally pledging $20 for every point I score, every block I make, and every Sirens win — all going to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research. My goal is to raise $20,000 — 20 for #20.
More than 6 million people worldwide live with Parkinson's, and there's still no cure. But research is making progress, and every dollar helps. You can join me by pledging alongside me this season, or by making a one-time donation right here. 100% of what you give goes directly to MJFF's research efforts. Let's Shake On together.
